TN Paramedical Application 2024-25: Normalization Method
The minimum eligibility mark for candidates who have completed an equivalent examination will be determined using the normalization method. In accordance with Tamil Nadu Act No. 3 of 2007, dated 05.03.2007, and G.O(Ms) No.77 of the Higher Education (J2) Department, dated 05.04.2007, students’ marks in relevant subjects from qualifying examinations conducted by various Boards or Authorities will be adjusted to align with the marks obtained by students from the State Board of Tamil Nadu in the same subjects.
This alignment process will be conducted through the normalization method. During normalization, the highest mark achieved by students from different Boards in each subject will be matched with the highest mark attained by State Board students in that subject. Subsequently, the relative marks obtained by other students in the same subject will be determined accordingly.
Normalization Apply
The normalization process ensures fairness and consistency in comparing scores across different educational boards. For example, if a student attains the highest score of 100 in Physics from the State Board, and another student achieves the highest score of 90 in the same subject from a different board, both scores will be adjusted to a common scale of 100.
In cases where a student from a different board scores below the highest mark, such as 60 in Physics where the maximum score is 90, the score will be normalized to 66.66 using the formula: (100 x 60) / 90 = 66.66%.
Upon completion of the normalization process for marks obtained from various boards in specific subjects, eligible students from diverse boards will be amalgamated into a unified merit list. It is noteworthy that for candidates who have cleared examinations from national boards such as CBSE and ISCE, only the highest marks secured at the national level will be taken into consideration for the normalization process.
