Classification of Central Government Posts: List of Group A Posts, B Posts, and C Posts
7th Pay Commission Classification of Central Government Posts: The categorization of positions within the Central Government Services is based on a structured system that considers the professional responsibilities and hierarchical grades of government officials within the administrative framework. This classification process encompasses various factors including the pay matrix level, authority, job requirements, and minimum qualifications needed for each post.
The 6th Central Pay Commission recommended the elimination of Group D and its elevation to Group C status, a classification that was subsequently adopted by the 7th CPC. Presently, the prevailing classification system recognizes three distinct groups: Group A, Group B, and Group C. Over 35 employees serving in the Central Government are now categorized into these three segments of Groups A, B, and C.
