Chandigarh RTE Admission School List 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria
The criteria for inclusion in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category are as follows: A child is classified under this category if their parent or guardian has an annual family income from all sources that is less than Rs 1.50 lakh.
The Disadvantaged Group (DG) category encompasses children who meet the definitions outlined in Section 2 (d) of the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009, which includes:
(a) Children belonging to Scheduled Castes
(b) Children of disabled individuals with a minimum disability of 60% for either parent
(c) Children diagnosed with cancer, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), or Thalassemia
(d) Children who are living with or affected by HIV
(e) Children of war widows
(f) Children of defense personnel, paramilitary forces, and police officers who have died in service
(g) Orphaned children as defined in the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, residing in the Union Territory of Chandigarh
(h) Children from families that have lost their sole breadwinner
(i) Children with disabilities (CWSN) as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.
