Bi-annual board examinations from the academic year 2025-26
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to introduce bi-annual board examinations from the academic year 2025-26, as announced by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This initiative will offer students the flexibility to select their preferred timing for the Class 10th and 12th board exams. The objective of this innovative approach is to enhance students’ prospects for academic success and enable them to demonstrate their competencies effectively. CBSE Admission Age Limit 2025-26
The Central Government has recently introduced a minimum age requirement for admission to Class 1 in CBSE schools, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2024-25. This directive mandates that students must have completed 6 years of age by the 1st of April in the academic year for which they are seeking admission.
While Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has already implemented this age criterion across all its schools since the academic year 2022-23, private and state government schools are yet to enforce this regulation. The key challenges stem from discrepancies in the minimum age requirement and the cut-off dates, which vary among different states. Some states follow a cut-off date of the 1st of January, while others adhere to the 1st of June or July. Consequently, many parents are facing confusion due to the lack of clarity regarding the minimum and maximum age criteria and the differing cut-off dates.
