CPI BY-2012 Rural, Urban Index March 2024

The Consumer Price Index numbers based on 2012=100 for rural, urban, and combined areas in March 2024 were compiled through meticulous data collection efforts. These price data were gathered from a total of 1114 urban markets and 1181 villages, encompassing all States/Union Territories. The dedicated field staff of the Field Operations Division of the NSO, MoSPI, conducted personal visits on a weekly basis to obtain this information.

Throughout March 2024, the NSO successfully collected prices from approximately 99.8% of villages and 98.5% of urban markets. The detailed market-wise prices reported stood at 89.6% for rural areas and 93.2% for urban regions, reflecting a comprehensive and thorough data collection process that provides valuable insights into the economic landscape.
